Koh Brothers Eco's JV wins $520m contract
It was tasked to construct a deep tunnel sewerage system.
A joint venture (JV) by Koh Brothers Eco Engineering Limited's (Koh Brothers Eco) subsidiary has bagged a $520m contract for the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS) Phase 2 project.
According to a press release, Koh Brothers Building & Civil Engineering Contractor (Pte.) Ltd. (KBCE) and Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd (Penta-Ocean) won the contract through the JV.
The DTSS will be used to address long-term needs for used water collection, treatment, reclamation and disposal.
Phase 1 of the project was completed in 2008. Phase 2 will include deep tunnels from the downtown area to the western part of Singapore, the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant and an integrated NEWater factory.
The JV will be handle design and construction of the tunnels, shafts, and other features required under Contract T-08 of the DTSS Phase 2 project, specifically, relating to the section from South Tunnel at Tuas Road and Industrial Tunnel at Pioneer Road to the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant that will span 10 kilometres.
KBCE hold a 35% stake in the JV.
The project is expected to commence on 25 September 2017, and is expected to be finished by June 2023.
