More than just chemical

More than just chemical

BASF is the world’s leading chemical company. Its portfolio ranges from chemicals, plastics and performance products to agricultural products, fine chemicals and oil and gas.

As a reliable partner BASF helps its customers in virtually all industries to be more successful. With its high-value products and intelligent solutions, BASF helps find answers to global challenges such as climate protection, energy efficiency, nutrition and mobility.

BASF South East Asia Pte Ltd
BASF established its South East Asia headquarters in Singapore in 1978 and is charged with key responsibilities for several Regional Business Units (RBUs) and Global Business Units (GBUs). As a regional service hub, BASF South East Asia manages and provides value-added services in logistics distribution, marketing, finance and treasury, audit, information technology and applications for BASF subsidiaries in the entire Asia Pacific region.

The Regional Distribution Center (RDC), opened in 1998 in Singapore, ensures more efficient, reliable and speedier delivery of goods from BASF’s worldwide and Asia plants to customers at competitive costs. Today, the RDC serves more than 50 ports in all countries in Asia, with more than 1000 products delivered from BASF global production network.

In Singapore, BASF South East Asia has a 50:50 manufacturing joint venture with Shell Easter Petroleum (Pte) Ltd, called ELLBA Eastern Pte Ltd, for the production of styrene monomer and propylene oxide (SM/PO).

BASF Global Research Centre Singapore
BASF first set up its R&D Lab for Nanostructured Surfaces in April 2006 – the company’s first research facility in Asia for Nanotechnology.

The goals of this new research unit are to realize innovative ideas in product development for existing growth markets (automotive, construction, household, cosmetics and electronics); to support unique scientific solutions for emerging markets (electronics, energy and resource conservation) and to further develop the activities in nanotechnology as a key technology for BASF. In May 2007, this research facility was further expanded to include the R&D Lab for Organic Electronics, which also houses the R&D activities for Organic Photovoltaics.
