Ascott extends access to over 100m Chinese travellers through online listing

It’s partnering with e-commerce giant Alibaba.

CapitaLand’s serviced residence business unit is looking to capitalise on Chinese tourists shifting towards independent travel as it makes its global network of serviced residences on Alitrip, Alibaba’s online travel service platform.

According to a statement by Ascott, they are the first serviced residence company to be listed in the platform.

“Ascott already has 24 of its China properties with 4,300 apartment units available for booking by Alitrip users through a directly operated online flagship store,” the statement said.

Ascott adds that it will list its global network of over 26,000 apartment units in over 60 cities on the platform by June this year.

“Chinese travellers can look forward to even more travel options on our Alitrip store, when Ascott doubles our portfolio to 80,000 units globally by 2020,” said Lee Chee Koon, Ascott’s CEO.
