Chart of the Day: Consumer sentiment weakens in February
There was quicker decline in household durables prices.
Consumer sentiment remained tepid, said RHB, citing the quicker decline in household durables prices and sharp slowdown in travel expenses inflation.
"Core CPI retreated to +1.2% YoY in February after rising 1.5% at the start of the year," it noted.
Meanwhile food inflation grew 1.3% year-on-year in February, moderating from a 1.9% rise in the month before. "This was due to the smaller rise in fresh food prices caused by the difference in timing for the Lunar New Year festivities over the last two years,” reported RHB.
Services inflation also eased to 1.5% in February after gaining 1.9% at the start of the year.
