Chart of the Day: See which industries lost workers in Q2

Work Permit Holders in the manufacturing and construction sectors decreased.

This chart from the Ministry of Trade and Industry Singapore (MTI) shows that employment in the construction sector declined by 9,500 in Q2.

The decline in employment in the second quarter was mainly due to a continued decrease in Work Permit Holders in the manufacturing and construction sectors.

Employment in the manufacturing sector fell by 2,500, attributed to weak performance in the marine and offshore engineering segment.

Meanwhile, employment in the services sector gained by 4,100, whilst other services grew by 5,900, transportation & storage by 3,000, and information & communications by 1,200.
