Singapore's foreign wholesale trade slipped 3.4% in 2Q

But here's some good news.

According to a releaset by the Department of Statistics, Singapore's foreign wholesale trade (seasonally adjusted) decreased 3.4% in second quarter 2013 over first quarter 2013.

Excluding petroleum, foreign wholesale trade fell 3.0% over the previous quarter.

After removing price effect, foreign wholesale trade dipped 1.7%. Compared to the same period a year ago, foreign wholesale trade decreased 1.4%, partly attributed to a decline in foreign sales of petroleum & petroleum products. Excluding petroleum, foreign wholesale trade rose 1.1%. After adjusting for price changes, foreign wholesale trade increased 5.2%.

Meanwhile, domestic wholesale trade (seasonally adjusted) rose 1.1% in second quarter 2013 over first quarter 2013. Excluding petroleum, domestic wholesale trade grew by 4.0%.

After removing price effect, domestic wholesale trade increased 4.7% over the previous quarter. Compared to the same period a year ago, domestic wholesale trade dipped 1.1% in second quarter 2013.

Excluding petroleum, domestic wholesale trade remained at similar level compared to second quarter 2012. After adjusting for price changes, domestic wholesale trade registered a year-on-year increase of 4.9%.
