Backed by Asia’s leading and largest financial comparison specialist CompareAsiaGroup, SingSaver.com.sg offers a comprehensive listing of financial products for consumers to easily find information they need in order to make informed decisions.

Co-founded by Rohith Murthy, who has more than a decade of experience in the banking industry, the platform currently offers credit cards and personal loans, with a host of other financial products to follow.

Rohith explains that while some financial comparison sites simply collate information from banks and financial services providers, SingSaver.com.sg offers computations on how much people can save in dollar value, taking into consideration factors such as reward points, cash conversion value, maximum points accumulated, maximum cashback, welcome gifts, and spending in each category (e.g. groceries, petrol, entertainment or dining).

“We are a comprehensive and unbiased comparison site that lists and compares all the products in the market. We also work closely with the providers in getting the best deals and prices for people,” said Rohith.

SingSaver.com.sg as a customer empowerment platform

The platform believes that buying financial products is a complicated process. With consumers having limited time, they do not have the capacity to call up every bank and institution to ask about rates and information. Comparison sites such asSingSaver.com.sg bridge the gap between consumers and providers by simplifying the data gathering process. The site makes information readily available on one platform. Furthermore, SingSaver.com.sg works directly with the banks and the providers to offer the best deals and prices to its customers.

SingSaver.com.sg also hopes to improve financial literacy in Singapore by offering a host of guides and articles that will help consumers make better decisions when it comes to personal finance.

According to Rohith, they want to educate the customers on how to use the financial products and manage their personal finance to save money.

He added that their team also want to be the household name for personal finance and be the most reliable site where consumers can go and find the best product for their needs, thereby saving them time and money.

Humble beginnings

During the interview, Rohith traces back when they were building their network from scratch.

Rohith told SBR that for the first month, they cold called every bank in Singapore and walked into every branch to inquire about their products and services. They also 'mystery-shopped' - posed as somebody else and asked questions. They acted out as newly weds asking about home loans and car loans; engaged couple inquiring about personal loans; and other times, they asked about credit card and insurance.

While when choosing the name, SingSaver.com.sg, their team went to 20 different cafes, restaurants and hawkers in Singapore. One weekend they asked people randomly to think of first thing that came to mind when they heard the names of site.

The founder

Rohith Murthy has more than a decade of experience in the banking industry. He is a naturalised citizen, having moved from India in 1999 to study at the National University of Singapore, where he was a full scholar. He graduated in 2003 with a degree in Computer Engineering.

He then joined Citibank's regional team and was eventually deployed to Romania in 2010 to lead the Digital Banking Team. He was previously with Siam Commercial Bank in Bangkok, prior to moving back to Singapore to helm SingSaver.com.sg.

Rohith worked closely with leading banks in Singapore to offer SingSaver.com.sg users the best deals in the market even before the website launched.
