Chart of the Day: Restaurants drag F&B sales in April

Overall F&B sales dropped 3% YoY.

The main culprit of the 3% slump in food & beverage sales turnover was the restaurant segment, this chart from the Department of Statistics shows.

For the month of April, restaurants' turnovers slumped 10.5% YoY, dragging the overall F&B output. Other eating places also clocked in a slight 0.6% decrease in turnover.

Thanks to the sales from fast food outlets and food caterers, the overall sector sales did not spiral down any further. Fast food outlets recorded a 5.6% growth in sales whilst food caterers saw a 5% increase in turnover in the said month.
