Cheap Cheap: 98% of hawker stalls maintained prices in June

Survey also showed 93.9% of hawker stalls had maintained prices of their food and drinks for the last three months.

According to the Department of Statistics, 98% of hawkers that participated in the Hawker Food Price Survey maintained their prices in June 2011 from a month earlier.

The survey, commissioned by the Retail Price Watch Group, covered a total of 1,319 hawker stalls from hawker food centres and coffee shops spreading over the Central, East, North, Northeast and West zones. It counts the number of unique hawker stalls that had changed the prices of their food items in each month.

The RPWG, led by Mr. Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and National Development, was set up in late February 2011 to keep a close watch on any excessive price increases of daily necessities and anti-competitive behaviour from businesses in Singapore.
