Chili crab lures investors as market rout deepens
They're betting on air travel too.
Despite the bleak outlook for Singapore shares, institutional investors still have a strong appetite for Jumbo Group, a chili crab restaurant operator that went public last year.
A report by Bloomberg highlighted that Alan Richardson of Samsung Asset Management Ltd. is seeing flashes of opportunity this year in chili crab and airline travel. The Hong Kong-based money manager, who shunned Southeast Asia’s largest equity market in 2015, spots potential in companies such as Singapore Airlines Ltd. and Jumbo Group Ltd., the restaurant company that went public in November. Bank Julius Baer & Co., meanwhile, is drawn to real estate investment trusts.
