Almac Group boosts APAC foothold, unveils first clinical packaging facility

It’s the first to complete the Health Sciences Authority inspection.

Almac Group, a global contract development and manufacturing organisation is expanding its Asia Pacific operations by building its first regional operations centre in Singapore. Located at 9 Changi South Street, in the eastern part of the city-state, Almac Pharmaceutical Services is the company’s new facility to expand the company’s unique suite of clinical trial primary and secondary packaging, distribution, technology and consultation solutions offered from within the region.

Almac Pharmaceutical Services is designed to provide on-the-ground leadership as well as technical, project and operational resources in Asia Pacific. It will also enable the region’s clinical trial supply management and support Interactive Response Technology (IRT) delivery, which further optimise the supply chain, minimize wastage and reduce costs for Almac’s clients.

“Almac took a key strategic decision to introduce manufacturing facilities within Singapore, to ensure that our full operational service offering was available globally. This will be the first clinical packaging facility within Singapore to complete a successful Health Service Authority (HSA) Inspection,” said Robert.

The Almac Singapore facility features two primary packaging rooms, three secondary labelling rooms and one 2-8oC secondary labelling room. Robert further says that their facility ensures that they can offer a full portfolio of service including encapsulation, blistering, bottling, walleting/carding and labelling requirements.

Almac is up for any challenge

Ensuring that Almac delivers a facility to meet the demand of the current trends and forecasts in the pharmaceutical industry is the first consideration that the company took along with its focus on solid oral packaging technology in building this new facility. Robert explained that it was imperative that they support the growing market demand and supply challenges associated with Biologics and Biosimilar compounds. And to do that, Almac incorporated labelling, storage and distribution capacity that would ensure to maintain temperature control and product stability.

Using the company’s industry experience supported by their local experts in developing and commissioning new facilities, Almac ensured that best practices were employed to delivery that would exceed the highest standards of GMP and GDP compliance.

Robert said that the successful completion of the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) inspection of their new Asia Pacific headquarters is a testament to the high standards of safety, quality and efficacy at our facility.

“Almac aims to be the first full service clinical trial packaging and distribution organisation to ever receive GMP certification. This facility strengthens the Group’s global footprint with facilities in Europe, the US and Singapore, as well as satellite offices in Japan,” added Robert.
