That is if a focused cancer-controlled health care policy is not put in place.

Association of Southeast Asian Nations Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan said governments in Southeast Asia must address the cancer epidemic to avoid economic disruption.

A Bloomberg report quoted him as saying in Singapore there will be “ill-prepared health systems, eventually undermining the region’s economy.”

In Southeast Asia 500,000 people a year are killed by cancer.
