Resorts World Sentosa to open initial phase in two weeks

Resorts World Sentosa to open initial phase in two weeks

The first part, specifically four hotels, of Genting Singapore's casino resort will be open on 20 January 2010, three months ahead of its rival's target.

As reported by Reuters, Resorts World Sentosa will commence phased opening with four hotels as Genting has yet to announce the start date for the casino. Genting did not provide an estimated start date as it awaits the licence from Singapore's Casino Regulatory Authority. The completed application package for the licence was submitted last December and is expected to be processed in more than three months.

The $4.4 billion project is one of two casino resorts being built in Singapore to double visitor arrivals to 17 million in five years. The other casino resort, Marina Bay Sands of Las Vegas Sands, is planned to be open in April.
