Domestic firms urged to turn to YouTube as hiring war intensifies

Innovative hiring strategies are urgently needed.

Local firms must turn to video sourcing and talent analytics to combat Singapore's relentlessly tight labour market.

Jim Stroud, Recruitment Strategies & Support Director of Randstad Sourceright U.S., said online video is a powerful tool that companies need to use to not only engage prospective employees, but differentiate themselves against their competitors.

“The numbers speak for themselves. People are watching six billion hours of YouTube videos each month, and this number is soaring by 50 per cent year-on-year.

“Companies in Singapore need to change their recruitment strategies to tap into this rapidly growing platform to combat the talent shortage,” said Stroud.

Data analytics will also play a critical role in future sourcing, enabling employers to analyse the hiring habits of competitors, identify talent and predict their future behaviour.

“Singapore has one of the highest mobile penetration rates in the world so there’s a huge opportunity and appetite for these types of tools here. By being strategic and agile, employers who are able to play the role of data analyst, social marketer and brand ambassador will be in prime position to source the best talent in today’s employees’ market,” said Stroud.
