Government IT spending to hit $3.2b this year

This is a 3.2% increase.

According to a report by Gartner, overall government IT spending in Singapore will total $3.2 billion in 2014, an increase of 3.2 percent over 2013 spending.

This forecast includes spending by state and regional government and central government agencies on internal services, software, IT services, data center, devices and telecom services.

The Singapore government’s spending on IT services will grow 3% in 2014 to reach $1.9b, up from $1.8b in 2013. At the same time, spending on the business process outsourcing segment will grow 5.3% this year.

“IT services, which includes consulting, implementation, IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing, will be the largest overall spending category throughout the forecast period within the government sector,“ said Anurag Gupta, research director at Gartner. 

Internal services will achieve a growth rate of 2.7%in 2014. Internal services refer to salaries and benefits paid to the information services staff of an organization.
