mig33 unveils 300-character miniblog site

Chat, IM, and games rolled into one.

According to a release, mig33, a leading mobile and social media entertainment brand, today announced the global launch of their 300-character miniblog, along with a new brand identity.

The 300-character miniblog has been developed in collaboration with mig33 members, where the company now redefines itself as a ‘miniblog’ driven community.

Building upon its core base of chat, instant messaging (IM) and gaming activity, the company views the miniblog as a natural progression.

‘The growth and change of the mobile and social landscape has also led to an evolution in how people interact and engage with one another within this space.

Beyond chat and gaming services, we’ve seen the communications’ needs of our members seeking a moreconversational style, so we’ve created our 300-character miniblog’ said Steven Goh, CEO and co-founder of mig33.

The communications style of the miniblog is more conversational compared with other similar services, where the mini-blog allows for real-time 300-character posts, so that users can share more text, emoticons and photos.

They can also interact with the content by commenting, replying, marking favourites and also reposting.

More broadly, the shift to the conversation style of the miniblog represents a clear move away from the IM based format. The new miniblog style allows for more real estate options for how information and content can be delivered to members and the open format positions the company well to work with brands, advertisers, content creators, celebrities and brands.

So far, mig33’s partners have welcomed the focus on this conversational style beyond the chat and gaming services, as it provides more opportunities for brands to reach mig33 members.

Goh adds ‘We’ve seen good traction with the miniblog and we are seeing significantly higher engagement across our service, compared to others. The focus on this new conversational format brings the mig33 community into a new and richer engagement model, which creates new and valuable content that did not previously exist.

In addition to the miniblog coming out of beta, mig33’s chat services now have ‘message sync’ whereby all messages are now synced across all platforms regardless of multiple access on web or mobile.
