Mobile app Nearcircles to launch its Android app on Singapore’s national day
Aiming to reach more local communities.
Nearcircles, a messaging app that allows residents living in the same neighbourhood to engage in community-related discussions, is set to release the Android mobile version on Singapore’s national day. Currently available on i0S, the Android launch of Nearcircles will celebrate Singapore’s 50th year of Independence.
Android users can soon tap on the app to probe questions, sell household items to neighbours and find like-minded individuals by joining the lifestyle groups in their local community areas.
Inclusive and connected neighbourhoods
The application believes that local communities are no longer connected. Most of the people do not even know their neighbours.
"Existing social platforms allow us to connect with the world, but not our surroundings. There have been few apps in the hyperlocal space but predominantly in the dating side. With a target to create connected neighbourhoods, we have developed Nearcircles,” says Suresh Mylavarapu, founder of Nearcircles.
Suresh believes that if people from the same neighbourhood are connected, it will generate rich social capital, allow the evolution of different sharing economy models and deal effectively with aspects such as security.
To assist users, Nearcircles features geo tagging to respective neighbourhoods, switching neighbourhoods from one city to another and clearly defining the boundaries of every neighbourhood and allows a user to join only one neighbourhood during registration which encourages residents to join their own neighbourhood and connect to real neighbours.
