Midnight Shift makes international debut in Decibel Festival

Label artists from Singapore will be showcasing their talents at the festival held from 26 to 30 September in Seattle, USA.

In a release, Singapore-based Midnight Shift will be organising and curating its first overseas label showcase at one of the finest electronic music festivals in North America: the lauded Decibel Festival held from 26 to 30 September 2012 in Seattle, USA.

Featuring label artists Terrence Parker, Basic Soul Unit and Norman Chung from Singapore, as well as Singapore-based visual artist Avneesh Bacha, the showcase will not only spotlight its artists on the international platform but also immerse worldwide music-lovers in the distinctive Midnight Shift experience.

Festival-goers can look forward to a great night out of house and techno on the melodic tip, thanks to the mad scratch skillsof  Terrence Parker from Detroit and his unique blend of vocal house, to the dubby techno and house music excursions created
by Toronto’s Basic Soul Unit. Singaporean Norman Chung will be one to watch, with his signature brand of relentless, bright
energy traversing the best of the classics and the cutting-edge, while headlining act, Oxia, will end the night on a high with his
uncompromising, quality grooves and landmark style that has won raves from the world over.

Originally from Mauritius, visual scientist Avneesh will be piloting the visual controls of the night with content provided by Lucas Burrows, matching beat to pixel in the magical kingdom of venue, Re-Bar. The festival is estimated to pull over 23,000 attendees over four days of electronic music, performance, visual art and new media. This year’s headline acts include Orbital, The
Cannabinolds featuring Erykah Badu, Kimbra and DJ Shadow.

The event will also be the official commemoration of Midnight Shift’s first EP release, entitled The First Shift, featuring electronic music by Singaporean DJ/producer Eddie Niguel paired alongside that of Basic Soul Unit. Available in both vinyl and digital formats, the EP will be distributed in EU and US markets in October 2012.

This entry into international waters is set to be the first of future collaborations as Midnight Shift plans to take its showcases in other parts of the world, staying true to its aim of bringing emerging and established artists in production and performance on one global stage. Midnight Shift Showcase at Decibel Festival is made possible with the kind support of Singapore International Foundation.
