Road trip: Automobile Association of Singapore gears up for an 8-day journey to Thailand

According to a release, Singaporeʼs leading motoring association, the Automobile Association of Singapore (AA), is ready to embark upon a gastronomic journey of discovery, as the WanBao AA Makan Trail once again eases off the handbrake, this time heading North from Singapore to Phuket and Khao Lak in Thailand. The journey passes through Ipoh, Hat Yai, Phatthalung, Krabi and Phuket, before arriving in Khao Lak on Day 6 of the epic trip.

The AAʼs Auto-Venture™ (AV), or driving holidays, have become iconic events for the 104 year-old motoring association, being ever popular with its members and Singaporean motorists in general. AA Auto-Ventures™ have previously taken motoriststo the Genting Highlands, Lijiang in China, Penang and other exciting destinations, that as well as providing interest upon arrival, also offer great driving experiences to reach.

Not only do those participating get the chance to experience a long distance road trip, but also the opportunity to sample the local cuisine of the places that they visit en route.Departing from Singapore on the 11th December and returning just in time for Christmas shopping on the 18th, the eight-day motoring venture will pass through fabulous scenery in both Malaysia and Thailand – and as the geography changes, so does the cuisine!

“The upcoming AV in December is the perfect way for someone to combine their love of both motoring and food and to travel with like-minded individuals across exciting parts of Asia. For the past three years we have carefully created itineraries that offer great places to stay, with scrumptious food options, and at very competitive prices. Itʼs trips like these that really brings Singaporean motorists together” said Mr Lee Wai Mun, CEO of AA Singapore. “Personally, Iʼm craving for the Tom Yum Soup in Khao Lak!” he added.

Nightly stopovers on next monthʼs Auto-Venture™ include the Hat Yai Novotel, G Hotel Penang and the Le Meridien Khao Lak Beach and Spa Resort, amongst others - all welcoming sights after an exhilarating dayʼs driving.
