Singapore Youth Olympics Committee gets Samsung as International Presenting partner

As part of its sponsorship, the consumer electronics company will also give away 5,000 units of Samsung OmniaLITE to the Youth Olympics athletes and key team officials.

Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., announced several initiatives for the upcoming Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games which include Samsung being the International Presenting Partner for the Singapore 2010 Journey of the Youth Olympic Flame (JYOF), and the Olympic torch relay in Singapore; the appointment of Asian pop star JJ Lin as Samsung’s Youth Ambassador; the Samsung Mobile Explorer programme for active and talented youth from Singapore, China, and Korea to take part in Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games; and the Digital Concierge for Singapore 2010, which will provide personalised Singapore 2010-related information and services to athletes and National Olympic Committee (NOC) team officials through Samsung mobile phones.

“As a long time supporter of the Olympic Movement, Samsung is giving its full support to ensure that the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is an unprecedented success and a landmark event in Singapore’s sporting history,” said Mr. Gregory Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Samsung Asia Pte.

Commenting on Samsung’s initiatives, Mr Ser Miang NG, Chairman of SYOGOC said, “Samsung is already a key partner of Singapore 2010 with its sponsorship of the Digital Concierge for Singapore 2010. With its commitment as the International Presenting Partner of JYOF, I am confident that participants of the city celebrations in Berlin, Dakar, Mexico City, Auckland and Seoul will have a meaningful and memorable experience when the Youth Olympic Flame visits the cities.”
