Will Japan’s upcoming casinos hurt the Singapore gaming market?

Japan could potentially legalize casinos by end-2012, says DMG OSK.

According to a conference call highlight report from DMG OSK, Japan could potentially legalize casinos by end-2012 when the gaming bill is slated for voting in the spring parliamentary session. Expectations are for only one or two casino licences to be up for grabs if approved, and management has indicated keen interest in bidding for one of the licences.

“Although competition will be intense, RWS’ solid balance sheet and growing global presence and branding will certainly place it in a strong competitive position. South Korea is another market that management has indicated interest in, should the country liberalize its casino industry,” DMG added.
