Chart of the Day: Electronics sector expanded in April

It was the 3rd consecutive month of expansion for the sector.

The Singapore Institute of Purchasing & Materials Management reported:

In the electronics sector, the index posted a further expansion at 51.5, which was an increase of 0.5 point over the previous month. It was the 3rd consecutive month of expansion for the sector.

The increase in the electronics PMI was due to a further expansion in new orders from overseas and domestic markets. Whilst production output, imports and employment continued to expand, inventory and stockholdings of finished goods continued to contract.

Electronics input prices reverted to contraction after having moderated in the previous month.
