Market Update: Singapore shares start trading week with a recovery, up by 0.35%
The Straits Times Index closed up by 10.78 points or 0.35% on Monday trade, ending at 3,106.00. The aviation-related counters led the gains for the day.
About 2.15-billion securities worth S$1.33-billion changed hands with advancers outnumbering stock losers, 268 to 223.
Top performers for the day were SIA with 6.23% or S$0.33 in gains, SATS up by 3.43% or S$0.15, and YZJ Shipbuilding which went higher by about 2.50% or S$0.03.
Most Asian stocks traded mixed as some degree of rotation from tech to cyclical recovery stocks s evident.
Meanwhile on Wall Street, most US stocks went higher as investors struggled to balance economic optimism against steadily rising Treasury yields.
S&P 500 climbed about 0.65% or 25.60 points to 3,968.94. The NASDAQ rose by 1.05% or 139.84 points, closing at 13,459.71, while the Dow Jones Industrial jumped by 174.82 points or 0.53%, reaching 32,953.46.
The London blue-chip index closed in the red ending down by 0.17% or 11.77 points at 6,749.70. The FTSE 250, on the other hand, went up by 0.07% or 15.88 points closing at 21,522.35.
