Which listed firms have the best corporate governance scores?
SingTel tops the list.
Blue chips have the best corporate governance scores among locally-listed firms, the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard showed today.
SingTel had the highest corporate governance score, with a mark of 105.48 out of 128.
Singapore Exchange bagged the second spot with a score of 102.93, closely followed by DBS and SMRT with scores of 102.61 and 102.04 respectively.
Singapore Press Holdings clinched the fifth spot with a score of 97.27. SPH was followed by Capitaland, Keppel Land, and SIAEC, which gained scores of 94.56, 94.29, and 94.19, respectively.
OCBC bagged the ninth spot with a score of 93.89. Keppel Corporation closed the top ten with a score of 93.31.
The ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard, a joint initiative of the Asian Development Bank and ASEAN Capital Market Forum, assesses the corporate governance of publicly listed companies across ASEAN.
Companies were assessed and scored in five major areas, namely rights of shareholders, equitable treatment of shareholders, role of stakeholders, disclosure and transparency and responsibilities of the Board.
