He was a self-made millionaire at age 26.
While other children had aspirations of becoming law enforcement officers and astronauts, Joey found the study of abstract sciences and the universe beyond fascinating. A graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Australia at the age of 22, Joey Yap has made quite a name for himself in the field of Classical Feng Shui and Chinese Metaphysics in modern times. He first began exploring the subject at the tender age of 15 by picking up books and written references. Although they were rarely discussed matters at the time, Joey managed to source out various classical literatures in Chinese metaphysics and was able to meet science teachers when he was about 17. All of these spurred his budding interest.
By the time Joey was 20, he was already conducting Feng Shui consultations all over Australia while his peers were working odd jobs within the higher learning institution campus. However, he was faced with one of the biggest dilemmas upon graduation when everyone around him was almost certain about professional career prospects.
Most of his peers were geared up to be part of multinational corporations and those close to him played down the idea of him working as a ‘Fortune Teller’ as it did not promise a sustainable future. Instead of wilting his spirits, it sparked greater motivation to succeed in a field he felt so connected to – something others considered a post-adolescent hobby.
Five years later, Joey defied all odds stacked against him to become a self-made millionaire. It certainly was not an easy feat to achieve as it required painstaking effort to build an “empire” he now calls his own. By 32, he is leading a multi-million dollar conglomerate that continues to transform the lives of millions around the globe.
He founded the Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics in 2001 and currently is the Chief Consultant of the Joey Yap Consulting Group. Today, the academy claims of being the world’s largest and premier education institution for Chinese Metaphysical studies. Joey instituted courses in fields of Feng Shui, BaZi, Qi Men Dun Jia, Yi Jing, Date Selection and Face Reading, which have influenced over a million active learners from 37 countries globally.
Dubbed as the ‘World’s Main Man of Chinese Metaphysics’, 32 year-old Joey has moved to Singapore earlier this year to expand his business. He wants to spread his philosophy to the Singaporean market as he believes that most people may have the wrong perception on Chinese Metaphysics.
Joey is an avid believer of practicing what he preaches and applies all of his knowledge on his own business and investments. He believes that one can never be content with learning and he still considers himself an apprentice of the art despite being a world-renowned authority.
For the past 18 years, Joey has made keynote addresses to audiences hailing from nations like France, Germany, Canada, UK, US, Italy, Slovenia, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, The Philippines, China, Taiwan, and Singapore. Every year, he speaks at his signature event called ‘The Feng Shui & Astrology Seminar’ that takes place in over 12 countries – drawing in crowds in excess of 20,000 people.
Having achieved so much at such a young age, Joey has received a number of accolades in his journey. In 2008, he was listed by The Malaysian Tatler as the Top 300 Most Influential People in Malaysia and Prestige’s Top 40 under 40. Joey achieved another milestone in 2013 as he was conferred to the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) for his contribution to the industry – it carried the official title of Dato’. He was also named as one of The Inspiring Top 10 Young Malaysian Millionaires by RHA Media, a publication on the high achievers and affluent societies in Malaysia.
On an international scale, Joey has sold more than 4 million copies of 162 title books, translated into 7 different languages and has hit multiple bestsellers list in various reaches of the globe. Some of these publishing have earned him The Merit Award from the Asean Book Publishers Association – further cementing his position as the absolute authority in Chinese Metaphysics.
Joey also leads a team of professional consultants at the Joey Yap Consulting Group. He has travelled to the UK, USA, Canada, France, Germany, South Africa and all Southeast Asian nations to provide on-site consultations for notable projects.
