CapitaLand clinches a spot in Dow Jones' Sustainability World Index 2015
It ranks among the top 10%.
The real estate company's efforts to mitigate climate change and increase energy efficiency helped it to retain its spot as the longest-standing Singapore company to be listed in the Dow Jones Asia Pacific Index 2015 for being included for the seventh time.
CapitaLand is also one of the only two Singapore companies listed in the index.
A statement from CapitaLand said climate change and energy efficiency are important for the industry, given that buildings make up one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions.
“Climate change impacts every one of us. Rising temperatures and reduced rainfall could affect the severity of climatic and environmental challenges such as the haze that Singapore is battling again," Tan Seng Chai, chairman of CapitaLand's sustainability steering committee.
"Sustainable business practices are essential to long-term value creation for our stakeholders. As a responsible developer, we are committed to be profitable and sustainable through innovation and stakeholder engagement,” Tan said.
