Bad timing of launches in 2015 poses big risk for property developers

Buyers will start house hunting after the lunar new year.

New sales volumes are expected to pick up after this weekend, after festivities.

According to OrangeTee Research, many developers have held back new launches and instead preferred to strategise for a launch after February.

OrangeTee suggests that developers should try to time their launches strategically to prevent launching into an overly competitive market, with demand expected to be capped due to cooling measures and increasing new supply coming in from new and existing launches.

With many units left unsold from prior launches, a wave of “relaunches” may hit the market in 2015. Upcoming new launches include Sims Urban Oasis (launched already), Kingsford Waterbay, Botanique At Bartley and North Park Residences.
