HDB to build 40,000 new homes
Time to move out from mom and dad.
Owners of old HDB flats will be green with envy once they see the new projects HDB has in store.
Three new housing projects will soon join the organization’s growing list of green developments, as the HDB is about to start work in the Tampines North, Punggol Matilda, and Bidadari areas.
When fully developed, these three housing areas are expected to provide some 40,000 new homes for Singaporeans.
According to the HDB, “The development plans are tailored to capitalise on each estate’s distinct character, history and local flavor, so as to infuse each housing area with a unique identity and living experience for their residents.”
Two housing projects have already been started in Punggol Matilda in September 2013, which will be followed by another in the second half of 2014.
Projects in Tampines North will also be launched later this year, while development in Bidadari will begin next year.
Here’s more:
Bidadari is envisioned to be an urban oasis, where residents can rest, relax and connect with family and friends in a garden-like setting.
The proposals will capitalise on its rolling greens, rich heritage and convenient transport connections to provide a high quality living environment.
Tampines North is envisioned as a new green shoot and an extension of Tampines Town. There will be two new parks, namely the Boulevard Park and the Quarry Park.
Capitalising on its proximity to the waterfront and drawing inspiration from its heritage, the Matilda District of Punggol is set to be an attractive waterfront housing district with many flats commanding waterfront views.Planning for Matilda was inspired by the ‘verandah’ feature of the old Matilda House and its surrounding lush greenery.
