Meet Sprooki, a homegrown startup offering location-based promo alerts from malls and retailers.
Founders of Sprooki, which bills itself as Asia's first proximity marketing and mobile commerce service for the retail sector.said that the online platform is in the intersection of location-based-service and mobile payments - two high growth sectors.
Sprooki started operation on February 2011 and was founded by Michael Gethen & Claire Mula.

“When 30% of consumers have walked out of a physical store based on something they found via their mobile, traditional retailers and mall operators are searching for an evolution in their approach to marketing and point-of-sale,” Gethen said in an email to Singapore Business Review while noting that Sprooki has proof of concept and value derived from real consumers and retail clients.
According to Gethen, Sprooki has existing client contracts with international and national mall operators and national retail brands.
Sprooki's own branded application, he said, has a loyal user base of consumer who are happy to transact via mobile devices and pick up their products in store.
Sprooki has had $400,000 of capital injected from Australia, US and Singapore private equity.
Gethen explained that Sprooki's unique value is that it takes the pain out of mobile for traditional malls and retailers.
“Sprooki's Software as a Service licensed technology platform provides malls, national retailers and brands with mobile applications, web-based management tools and supporting services that helps them to reach out to mobile shoppers on a daily basis under their own trusted brand,” he said.
