Retail-tainment is the way to go as malls ditch boring entertainment categories

Escape rooms and playgrounds are all the rage.

Malls are ditching boring and traditional entertainment categories like movie theatres and bowling alleys to keep its fickle customers from getting bored.

According to a report by RHB Research, with more retailers embracing e-commerce, malls are evolving, too.

“Some of the new tenants that we spotted sprawling in Singapore malls are escape rooms and kids’ indoor playgrounds,” the report noted.

The report added that there are also new entertainment brands moving in malls such as Urban Ski, Climb Central, and Fish@Bugis+.
