M1, Huawei see 4G peak download speeds higher than 1Gbps
Upload speeds exceeded 130Mbps.
M1 Limited and Huawei announced that they achieved 4G peak download speeds of more than 1Gbps, and peak upload speeds in excess of 130Mbps.
According to M1’s media release, this is the first time Huawei and an operator have achieved such a high combined download and upload speed. Presently, LTE CAT9 devices, the most advanced 4G devices available commercially today, support download speeds of up to 450Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50Mbps.
The trial was performed in M1 Long Term Evolution (LTE) Advanced test lab, and was conducted using existing commercial hardware infrastructure supplied by Huawei and a prototype CAT14 device.
M1’s Chief Technical Officer Denis Seek further stated that the test was done to ensure that the company can deliver increased mobile upload speeds and meet customers’ expectations.
