M1 unveils two new Near Field Communications services

M1 NFC Prepaid MasterCard and EZ-link CEPAS are available starting today.

In a release, M1 announced the launch of two new Near Field Communications (NFC) services, M1 NFC Prepaid MasterCard and EZ-link CEPAS, in collaboration with MasterCard and EZ-link. Both NFC services will be made available at all M1 shops beginning today.

Together with an NFC SIM and NFC-certified handset, customers will be able to make contactless payments nationwide, at merchants that accept Paypass and EZ-link NFC-payments. Customers who top up their M-Cards with the M1 NFC Prepaid MasterCard will also enjoy additional bonus airtime.

Through M1 Mobile Wallet - M1’s NFC mobile phone application, customers will be able to experience the convenience and benefits of contactless payments, via secured mobile services with NFC. The M1 Mobile Wallet enables customers to obtain information on available NFC services, as well as manage their NFC account and settings, such as default cards, initiating payments, viewing transaction details and password amendments.

M1 has also implemented a wallet passcode as an additional security measure, which is required before processing manual payment transactions.

“M1 is pleased to work with our partners, MasterCard and EZ-link, to introduce Singapore’s first NFC services. This is a major milestone for mobile payments and our customers can look forward to more NFC-based products and services in the future to enhance their connected life and work”, said Mr P. Subramaniam, Chief Marketing Officer, M1 Limited.

A range of NFC-certified handsets including the Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy S Advance and the Sony Xperia S, will be available for customers to choose from.

The M1 NFC Prepaid MasterCard and EZ-link CEPAS are now available for purchase and activation at all M1 shops. For more information, please visit www.m1.com.sg/nfc.
