COE prices extend steep uptrend in April

Premiums for open category COEs rose to a one-year high at $52,410.

Certificate of entitlement (COE) premiums closed mostly higher in the latest bidding exercise in April, extending an upward trend.

Premiums for Category A cars, or those 1,600cc and below with horsepower not exceeding 130bhp, rose to $33,199 from $29,159 in the last exercise. Premiums for Category B cars also hit $48,000 from $43,102.

For commercial vehicles, COE premiums rose to $32,001 from $27,589 in the previous bidding exercise.

COE prices for vehicles in open category increased to $52,410 from $48,209 which represents the highest figure in more than a year and the first time it has surpassed the $50,000 mark since early December 2017.

Only motorcycle premiums fell after closing at $3,452 from $3,501 in the last exercise.
