ComfortDelGro tops up rental rebates by $10m
Its cabbies will receive a daily rebate of $16.50 until March, and $10 in April.
ComfortDelGro Taxi is shelling out about $10m in rental rebates for its cabbies until the end of April, according to a press release on top of the $18m package announced a week prior.
Until the end of March, a daily rental rebate of $16.50 will be given to each taxi, translating to $660 for the period. This will be followed by a daily $10 rebate for the entire month of April.

Together with the earlier rebate and government subsidy, its cabbies will see a daily rental reduction of $36.50 until March, $30 until April and $20 until 13 May.
This came amidst falling demand for taxi services caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. With tourist arrivals plummeting and an increasing number of companies allowing their staff to work from home, cabbies have seen their income drop by 20-30%, the company noted.
In addition, ComfortDelGro Taxi also waives rental for cabbies who have been quarantined by the Ministry of Health or put on stay-home notice or leave of absence by the company. Cabbies are also given financial assistance of up to $800 from the Cabby Hardship Fund.
