Singapore Airlines increases flights to Scandivania
Partnership with Scandinavian Airlines to create first non-stop Stockholm-Singapore route.
The two airlines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the landmark route as a response to soaring Asia-bound travel. The tie-up will also boost flight frequencies on the existing Copenhagen-Singapore route, according to Singapore Airlines.
"Singapore Airlines currently operates three weekly flights between Copenhagen and Singapore. The partnership is expected to lead to growth in air services between Scandinavia and Singapore, and, depending on market conditions, pave the way for a new route between Stockholm and Singapore, served with Singapore Airlines aircraft. No airline currently operates non-stop flights between the two cities," it said in a release.
“Due to the increased demand for travel to South East Asia, we are very pleased to be able to partner with Singapore Airlines to launch a new direct route between Stockholm and Singapore. We will also be able to offer both our corporate and leisure customers a wide number of beyond destinations across South East Asia thanks to our partnership with Singapore Airlines,” said Robin Kamark, Chief Commercial Officer, Scandinavian Airlines.
“We are extremely pleased to have reached this breakthrough agreement. SIA and SAS share a common desire to provide more travel choices to our customers, and through our partnership we can jointly offer more flights between our home markets, which would otherwise be difficult to provide on our own,” said SIA Executive Vice President Commercial, Mr Mak Swee Wah.
