ST Aerospace unveils maiden virtual reality pilot training tool in Singapore
It’s designed to emulate a conducive environment.
ST Engineering’s aerospace arm plans to elevate its pilot training standards as it introduces the city-state’s first virtual reality training simulation tool for pilot training.
According to a press release by ST Aerospace, the tool will enable more effective traning without the constraints of space and mobility currently faced by simulator rooms.
“Through this virtual reality tool, the cadet pilot donning a set of virtual reality goggles, may be immersed into a virtual cockpit environment for the procedural training component of the MPL programme. It enhances the entire learning process, which would eventually lead to better trained pilots,” the press release said.
According to ST Aerospace president Lim Serh Ghee, the firm is still exploring immersive technologies to enhance its training value chain.
“We are certainly excited to be the preferred training partner to airlines around the world, and are fully committed to producing the most competent pilots for this industry,” he said.
