CITIC Envirotech wins $515m ecological restoration contract in Sichuan

It will restore 20 million sqm of land across 36 towns.

CITIC Envirotech has been awarded an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) project on ecological restoration with the contract amount of $515m (RMB2.5b) in Meigu County, Sichuan Province, China.

According to an announcement, to facilitate the environmental and ecological restoration process, the residents in the 36 affected townships will be relocated from their current dwellings.

CEL will undertake the design and construction of essential housing and infrastructure including water supply, wastewater treatment, garbage disposal, and other auxiliary facilities in 11 newly designated residential areas in Meigu County.

CEL will commence clean up and remediation of the existing land, the planning, design and implementation of an ecological environmental system for about 20 million sqm of land across the 36 townships.

“This project is in line with the China government’s environmental protection plan to develop and beautify Meigu County by 2020,” CEL said.

The project will commence in the fourth quarter of 2018 and is expected to be completed by 31 December 2020. It will contribute positively to the revenue of the group for the financial years from 2018 to 2020, the company added.
