Their AIA Diabetes Care fills the underinsurance gap for patients with diabetes.
Singapore Business Review lauded the most exceptional business leaders in Singapore at the recently concluded Management Excellence Awards held last December 6 at Conrad Centennial Singapore.
Now on its third year, the Management Excellence Awards recognises exemplary top-level management executives whose initiatives have brought tangible business gains for their company’s operations.
AIA Singapore won Innovator of the Year under the insurance category. The company’s AIA Diabetes Care, Singapore’s First Diabetes Insurance Plan is the latest initiative from AIA Singapore that is aligned to the Singapore government’s efforts aimed at addressing a national concern of combating diabetes in Singapore. Singapore has the 2nd highest proportion of diabetics amongst developed nations. With more than 440,000 diabetics, and the numbers expected to increase to 1 million by 2050, almost 1 in 3 Singaporeans are at risk of developing diabetes.
The development of AIA Diabetes Care had been driven by deep customer insights focused on filling the underinsurance gap for patients with Type II Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes, who find difficulty in getting coverage. The plan also provides customers with easy access to secured protection by just answering 5 simple questions regarding diabetes, without going through the usual underwriting process of filling up complicated forms. Their representative, Yong Hong Sen, received the award at the gala dinner on December 6.
This year’s winners were judged by Henry Tan, managing director at NEXIA TS; Jeff Watts, managing director SEA Consulting Asia Pacific Consulting Leader at Deloitte; Lim Wei Wei, partner at Baker Tilly TFW; Foo Yuet Min, director for dispute resolution at Drew & Napier; and Azman Jaafar, deputy managing director for RHTLaw Taylor Wessing LLP.
