Ascott crosses 200-property milestone for Citadines with asset-light model

Citadines plans to open 20 more properties.

The Ascott Limited’s Citadines portfolio has crossed the 200-property mark worldwide, driven by its asset-light strategy of expanding through management contracts and franchise agreements.

The group said conversions enabling fast market entry accounted for 61% of its openings globally in the first seven months of 2025.

The upper-midscale conversion brand comprises 205 properties and approximately 35,000 units. Of these, more than 60%, or 127 properties and 22,200 units, are currently operational.

Citadines will open 20 more properties, including properties in Australia, Cambodia, the Philippines, China, Indonesia and Morocco.
