Wong Meng Yew, Michael Nixon, and Alexander Goh

Wong Meng Yew is a Partner in the Deloitte Singapore office and is the leader of the Global Trade Advisory practice in Southeast Asia (SEA). He regularly advises clients in navigating investments into SEA from a market access perspective involving movement of goods, services, and investments. Such advice includes cross-border supply chain strategies from a legal, regulatory, tax, and trade perspective.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Wong practiced law for more than a decade serving as a partner at an international law firm advising clients on international trade, customs matters, export controls, and sanctions compliance. This includes representing clients in disputes with both tax/customs authorities.

As a qualified customs broker, he regularly advises on tariff classification and valuation issues, rules of origin under various Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-based free trade agreements as well as import and export regulations.

Michael Nixon is a seasoned transfer pricing economics and tax law practitioner with over 20 years of experience in delivering successful advisory outcomes for clients, and over 10 years’ experience in the Asia Pacific region.

Nixon advises clients on value chain alignment projects that deal with international tax, transfer pricing and valuations issues, as well as tax policy, transfer pricing risk management and audit defense matters.

Previously, Nixon worked as a senior advisor at the OECD within the Tax Treaty and Transfer Pricing Unit. He led aspects of the work on the tax aspects of the digital economy, including Amount A, Amount B and Pillar Two, as well as some other OECD transfer pricing projects such as the COVID-19 guidance.

Alexander Goh is a Senior Manager with Deloitte’s Global Trade Advisory team in Singapore. He has more than a decade of experience in customs matters, facilitating trade and resolving trade compliance issues. Goh advises clients on adding value to their processes and supply chains, as well as implementable strategies to resolve their trade issues regarding the movement of goods.

His areas of focus include utilising Free Trade Agreements (FTA), developing import/export controls, as well as effective internal compliance programmes, application of customs’ schemes and licences and carrying out activities within Free Trade Zones. In addition, he is a certified declarant by Singapore Customs.
