Four polyclinics to be launched by 2020

They will be in Eunos, Kallang, Sembawang, and Bukit Panjang.

Four new polyclinics will be opened by 2020, Senior Minister of State for Health Dr. Lam Pin Min announced at the MOH Committee of Supply Debate 2018.

This is part of the government’s effort to enlarge its network of polyclinics to 30-32 by 2030. Two more polyclinics will be opened by 2023 located in Nee Soon Central and Tampines North.

Besides polyclinics, Dr. Lam also announced the development of three more hospitals including Sengkang General and Community Hospitals which will open by second half of this year; Outram Community Hospital to open progressively by 2020; and Woodlands General and Community Hospitals which will operate by 2022.

Moreover, the government will also increase the home care capacity in the country to 10,000 places and day care capacity to 6,200 places by 2020 to meet the demands of the ageing population. “There are also plans to increase the number of nursing home beds from the current 14,900 beds to 17,000 beds,” Dr. Lam added.

Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat earlier announced that healthcare spending is expected to grow almost $10.2b this year.
