About 20,000 TeSA training places to be established by 2020

It will now offer programmes for manufacturing and professional services sectors.

The Singapore government will add 20,000 training places for its Tech Skills Accelerator (TeSA) programme by 2020, said Minister for Communications and Information Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim at the Committee of Supply Debate today.

At 2018 budget announcement last February, Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat said they will invest $145m to expand TeSA over the next three years.

“Since we launched the TeSA in 2016, over 27,000 training places have been taken up or committed,” added Heng. “We will expand TeSA into new sectors like manufacturing and professional services, where digital technologies are increasingly important.”

TeSA, which was launched in 2016, offers various programmes to support information and communications technology (ICT) and non-ICT professionals to upgrade and acquire new skills that are in demand.
