ISCA-GDUFS to streamline accountancy pathways in 5-year pact

GDUFS' programmes will undergo SCAQ accreditation.

The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) has entered a five-year partnership with China’s Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) to expand accountancy education and professional pathways between Singapore and Guangdong.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MOU), GDUFS’ Accounting, Auditing and Financial Management programmes will apply for accreditation under the Singapore Chartered Accountant Qualification (SCAQ) programme, ISCA said in a statement.

Once accredited, graduates of the programmes will be eligible for fee waivers for five SCAQ Foundation Programme modules, supporting their pathway towards the Chartered Accountant of Singapore designation upon fulfilling the remaining SCAQ requirements.

The partnership will also give GDUFS students opportunities to connect with ISCA and the wider accountancy profession through industry and professional networks, events and activities.

Students pursuing the SCAQ pathway will have access to study support, internship and job-matching recommendations, SCAQ scholarships, and ISCA publications.

ISCA and GDUFS will also collaborate on professional learning and development through guest lectures, workshops and seminars for faculty, students and alumni, as well as access to ISCA publications and online resources.

The partnership will include access to ISCA’s specialisation programmes in areas such as financial forensics and sustainability, alongside online learning resources for accounting professionals.

“By connecting students with professional pathways, networks and industry exposure, and opportunities in Singapore, we hope to equip the next generation of accountancy professionals,” said Lee Boon Teck, President of ISCA.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
