SP launches job redesign toolkit to support CORENET X adoption

The toolkit helps companies redesign roles, address skills gaps, and develop training plans.

Singapore Polytechnic (SP), together with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), Skills & Workforce Development Agency (SWDA), and Singapore Contractors Association Limited (SCAL), has launched a job redesign starter kit to help built environment companies prepare their workforce for CORENET X.

CORENET X is Singapore’s national digital submission platform for building projects.

The new Job Redesign (JR) CORENET X Starter Kit is designed to help companies redesign roles, identify skills gaps, and develop training plans as adoption of the platform expands.

The toolkit was developed following a job redesign consultancy project involving 15 built environment companies, including architectural firms, engineering consultancies, and contractors.

Under the project, SP conducted workforce transformation programmes covering job redesign, skills mapping, learning and development planning, and on-the-job training blueprints.

The programmes focused on roles including project managers, BIM managers and coordinators, architects, engineers, developers, and contractors.

The starter kit consists of the CORENET X Job Redesign Guidebook and the Spot the Gap, Tweak the Roles, Educate and Perform (STEP) Tool, a web-based application that guides companies through the job redesign process.

The STEP Tool includes an AI assistant that maps competencies, identifies skills gaps, and highlights opportunities to incorporate AI and automation into redesigned work processes.

It also directs users to relevant SP training programmes, BCA CORENET X resources, mentorship support and funding schemes.

SP worked with SCAL to develop training pathways aligned with SWDA’s Career Conversion Programme for Built Environment Professionals (CCP-BEP), supporting workforce reskilling into redesigned roles.

The starter kit is intended for architectural firms, engineering consultancies, developers, contractors and other organisations using CORENET X, with HR and learning and development professionals, business leaders, project directors and managers, and BIM managers and coordinators amongst its intended users.

Separately, SP has signed new Memoranda of Understanding with EM Services, ACWise, and Nemetschek Group covering green building techniques, energy-efficient HVAC optimisation, and digital transformation in the built environment sector.
