ESR appoints Dalmar Sheikh to lead data centre expansion

He takes charge from 1 September 2026.

ESR has appointed Dalmar Sheikh as CEO of ESR Data Centres, effective 1 September 2026.

Based in Singapore, Sheikh will lead the company’s data centres business, overseeing its strategy, performance and growth.

He will also be responsible for expanding ESR’s digital infrastructure platform to meet demand from hyperscalers and enterprise customers across Asia-Pacific.

ESR’s data centres business has a development pipeline of more than 3.2GW across major Asia-Pacific markets, including Japan, South Korea and Australia.

The company said the platform is a key growth pillar as demand for digital infrastructure increases.

In his new role, Sheikh will oversee the execution of ESR’s data centre strategy, including the development pipeline, customer and investor relationships, and new growth opportunities.

Sheikh joins ESR from CtrlS Datacenters, where he was chief operating officer. He has more than 20 years of experience in data centres, digital infrastructure and technology.

Before joining CtrlS Datacenters, he held senior leadership positions at DataSphere Advisory, Actis and Amazon Web Services.

His experience covers the development, operation and growth of digital infrastructure platforms in Asia-Pacific and other international markets.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
