Travel Guard shifts Singapore underwriting to Zurich

Existing customers will keep their original policy terms whilst gaining access to expanded emergency assistance.

The Singaporean business of travel insurance brand Travel Guard has completed its underwriting transition to Zurich Insurance Group.

The transition follows Zurich’s $600m acquisition of AIG’s personal travel business, including Travel Guard, in December 2024, leading to the creation of Zurich Cover-More as Zurich’s global travel arm.

As part of the relaunch, a new Travel Guard Direct website has been introduced in Singapore to provide direct access to tailored coverage plans.

According to Zurich Cover-More’s Head of Asia, Jon Ford, the Singaporean travel market is characterised by frequent short-haul international travel and a high proportion of tech-savvy individuals under the age of 40.

Digital engagement remains high in the market, with 82 per cent of claims currently filed online.

The refreshed product offerings include up to S$2m in overseas medical coverage on the Supreme Plan option, alongside unlimited emergency evacuation on Enhanced and Supreme Plan options.

The policies also cover lost baggage, lost travel documents, trip interruption, early return, and travel supplier financial default.

Existing customers who purchased policies prior to the transition will retain their original policy conditions whilst gaining access to Zurich Cover-More’s expanded global network and 24-hour emergency assistance command centres.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
