Mapletree's MERIT fund offered in digital tokens
It was made available in private market platform iSTOX.
A part of Mapletree Investments Mapletree Europe Income Trust (MERIT), the company’s first European office fund, has been tokenised, according to an announcement by digital securities platform iSTOX.
According to iSTOX’s announcement, the digital securities issuance gives individual accredited investors partial access to Mapletree’s MERIT fund. This means a part of the fund has been made available to individual accredited investors in tokenized form, and ‘in smaller units’.
Primary subscription for individual investors via iSTOX closed last month. Subscribed units are now listed on the iSTOX exchange for secondary trading, providing existing accredited investors liquidity and new accredited investors a chance to participate.
"At iSTOX, we expect digital securities to eventually become a regular part of the conversation for any company planning an issuance. As they are fundamentally more efficient, we expect digital securities to grow rapidly as a share of total securities issued – benefiting both issuers and investors,” chief commercial officer of iSTOX Oi Yee Choo said.
Last month: Mapletree announced the closing of the MERIT fund after raising €507m ($816m).
