Primary-listed firms buy back $1.9b of shares in first seven months

Singtel recorded the highest consideration during the period.

More than 70 primary-listed companies in Singapore repurchased $1.9b worth of shares in the first seven months of 2026, according to SGX Group.

Singtel recorded the highest buyback consideration during the period, the bourse said in its Market Update report.

The telco maintained that full execution of its $2b buyback programme would result in an estimated 3% accretion to underlying earnings per share on a pro forma basis, based on its FY2026 underlying net profit.

Meanwhile, 10 primary-listed companies conducted their first share buybacks of the year in July.

Geo Energy Resources led the group, repurchasing 5.8 million shares for $3.15m at an average price of $0.54 per share, followed by Raffles Medical Group, which bought back 2 million shares for $1.78m.

Secondary-listed companies were also active during the period.

Jardine Matheson Holdings repurchased more than 3.7 million shares for approximately $346.2m (US$270m) at an average price of $91.55 (US$71.41) per share.

Hongkong Land bought back more than 27 million shares for approximately $269.2m (US$210m) at an average price of $9.78 (US$7.63) per share.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
