Aster to add 1.3 million barrels of crude storage in Singapore

Its new platform includes up to 4.3 million cubic metres of tank capacity.

Aster will increase available crude oil storage capacity in Singapore by more than 1.3 million barrels as part of the launch of Aster Port & Terminals (APT), a new storage and logistics business.

The company has awarded contracts to Overseas Technical Engineering and Construction Pte. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of DIALOG Group Berhad, and PEC Pte. Ltd. to rejuvenate crude oil storage tanks at Pulau Bukom.

The project is APT’s first major investment. APT will bring Aster’s marine, terminal, and storage infrastructure in Singapore into a commercial platform serving Aster and third-party customers.

The infrastructure includes 13 marine wharves across Pulau Bukom and Pulau Ular, up to 4.3 million cubic metres of tank storage capacity, and a single buoy mooring capable of receiving very large crude carriers carrying up to two million barrels of oil.

The launch builds on more than 60 years of terminal operations at Bukom.

“The launch of Aster Port & Terminals is an important step in building Aster into a broader, integrated energy platform,” said Andre Khor, Deputy CEO of Aster.

APT selected PEC and DIALOG for their experience in tankage and terminal infrastructure, Aster said.

PEC has specialised in plant and terminal engineering in Singapore since 1982, whilst DIALOG owns and operates midstream terminals across the region.

Both companies will carry out the tank rejuvenation works alongside live refinery and marine operations.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
