Sim Leisure to receive compensation for terminated theme park deal

The compensation should be paid in full on or before 30 October 2025.

Sim Leisure Group has announced that it will receive compensation for the terminated theme park agreement with Bandar Malaysia.

The amount was not disclosed, but the company noted that it should be paid in full on or before 30 October.

In a bourse filing, Sim Leisure said the compensation deal is expected to have a “material positive impact” on the company’s earnings for the financial year ending 31 December 2025.

Sim Leisure will turn over the vacant possession of the project site to the owner by 15 September 2025. The agreement also includes a waiver that Sim Leisure shall have no further right over the project site, including any items left there and shall be granted no further access.

The settlement was to resolve a dispute that arose between the two parties regarding the plans to develop a theme park together in Kuala Lumpur. Sim Leisure received a termination notice from Bandar Malaysia, and subsequently served a letter of demand for breach of agreement earlier this year.
